§ 02 / CAPABILITY / ENGINEERING BENCH

The bench behind every program.

PTM's engineering bench is a single integrated team — design engineers, materials scientists, tooling specialists, and quality engineers — that takes your brief from concept to production-ready specification. No handoffs between vendors. No CAD-to-quote-to-tooling-to-production fragmentation.

CAD-to-Production Design

From concept sketches to PPAP-ready specifications. PTM design engineers bring DFM input that improves your design before tooling — reducing cycle time, material cost, and time-to-production. Co-engineering, not just CAD execution.

Material Science to Your Spec

PTM materials engineers select, formulate, and validate plastic compounds against your performance requirements. Standard polymers for distribution-grade programs; custom resin formulations for specialized applications including FDA-grade, cold chain, UV-resistant, and impact-rated grades.

§ 03 / CAPABILITY / SMART MANUFACTURING

The plant that thinks
before it ships.

PTM's floor runs AI-vision QA on every unit, captures process telemetry, and maintains lot-to-lot traceability from raw resin to shipped part. How we hit ±0.05 mm at scale.

AI-Vision on Every Unit

Computer vision inspects every unit for dimensional defects, surface anomalies, and material consistency. 99.94% inspection rate, 0.06% escape rate. Full inspection, no batch sampling.

99.94% INSPECTION RATE 0.06% ESCAPE RATE REAL-TIME DEFECT DETECTION

Real-Time Process Control

Every line streams telemetry — temperature, pressure, cycle, dimensional output. SPC alerts engineers before drift becomes defect. Predictive maintenance before failure.

SPC TEMP / PRESSURE / CYCLE PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE DRIFT DETECTION

Raw Resin to Ship Date

Every shipped unit carries lot-to-lot traceability — raw resin batch, production date, machine ID, operator, QA record. Recall-ready by design.

LOT-TO-LOT RAW BATCH MACHINE ID QA RECORD RECALL-READY

Lot-to-Lot Consistency

Material consistency verified across production runs and across years. Mold variance under 0.3 mm across production years. Statistical capability indices documented for every program. Your spec at month 1 is your spec at month 36.

§ 06B / CASE EXAMPLES / WHAT CUSTOM LOOKS LIKE

What custom engineering
looks like in practice.

Anonymized profiles from the active portfolio. Real operational problems, PTM approach, outcomes — within validated capabilities and NDA.

§ CASE 1 · TIER 1 AUTOMOTIVE DUNNAGE

Tier 1 stamping operation in the Midwest needed to standardize returnable dunnage across three plants. PTM Custom Plastics designed a single SKU replacing four legacy variants, PPAP submission delivered on first attempt.

§ CASE 2 · CPG DSD COLOR-CODING

Top-50 CPG beverage brand operating DSD across 38 U.S. markets needed color-coded totes for route segregation. PTM delivered the first wave from stock with brand Pantone matching.

§ CASE 3 · MID-MARKET 3PL CONSOLIDATION

Mid-market 3PL with six Midwest DCs needed to standardize tote inventory after acquiring three operators. PTM Stackable Totes replaced 11 legacy SKUs, converting pools into shared infrastructure.

§ CASE 4 · FROZEN FOOD MULTI-TEMP

Top-20 frozen food manufacturer needed pallets maintaining dimensional stability between freezer storage and ambient dock. PTM Stamina line replaced wood pallet inventory.

§ CASE 5 · AUTOSTORE BUILD-OUT

Top-50 e-commerce operator deploying AutoStore needed tens of thousands of grid-compatible totes in a fixed window. PTM standard portfolio covered the first wave; custom run scaled behind schedule.

§ CASE 6 · PROTOTYPE TO PPAP

Industrial OEM with novel returnable packaging needed a plastic prototype manufacturer moving from CAD to PPAP-ready production on one bench. PTM handled CAD validation, prototype tooling, stress test, and pilot production.

§ 06C / PROTOTYPING / FROM CAD TO PPAP-READY

Plastic prototype manufacturer.
On one bench.

For teams evaluating a partner against a prototype-to-production timeline — what PTM's prototyping process looks like and how it integrates with PPAP-ready production.

PTM operates as a plastic prototype manufacturer moving CAD to PPAP-ready production on one bench. Process: CAD validation, DFM, 3D-printed form/fit, soft-tooled prototypes, stress-test, pilot production.

Soft tooling (aluminum, single-cavity) supports prototype and low-volume programs. Hard tooling (steel, multi-cavity) supports production-scale custom injection molding. Right path scoped against target volume during the engineering consult.

AI-vision QA applies to prototypes and production. Dimensional data on prototype runs surfaces issues before reaching production tooling. Iteration cycles typically run two to four weeks per round.

For PPAP-ready submission from day one, the data trail starts at prototype: capability studies, dimensional results, material certs at resin selection.

§ ON IP & NDA

Your IP stays yours.

PTM operates standard NDA on every custom program. Your designs, your specs, and your IP remain yours. PTM does not retain or reuse customer-specific designs, tooling, or material formulations. Work-for-hire is the default contract model; licensing arrangements are available for hybrid programs and discussed per project.

For programs requiring extended IP protection beyond standard NDA — including escrow arrangements, geographic exclusivity, or production-rights restrictions — these are discussed at the brief stage and structured into the contract before any CAD review.
